For the third year in a row, eight of Latvia’s largest and most magnificent collection gardens and parks in Riga, Salaspils, Kalsnava, Raiskums, Lēdurga, Babīte, Dobele and Rundāle invite you to take part in the “Flower Roads” campaign and discover the magic and diversity of flowers during one season.
The Flower Roads 2025 will lead you to the Lilac Garden of the Institute of Horticulture, the collection of Guna and Jānis Rukšāns, the Latvian National Botanical Garden, the Lēdurga Dendropark, the Botanical Garden of the University of Latvia and the breeding and Testing Nursery ‘Babīte’ of the University of Latvia, the arboretum of JSC ‘Latvijas valsts meži’ in Kalsnava and the Rundāle Palace Museum. These gardens and parks have been developed over decades, in some cases even hundreds of years, combining the traditions of collection building with modern tourism solutions. The flowering plant collections include both traditional and popular varieties, as well as fascinating rarities. Crocuses, azaleas, rhododendrons, magnolias, lilacs, peonies, dahlias, roses, tropical plants – these are just some gems of the blooming treasure that the gardens and parks offer to discover in the Flower Roads.
To take part in the campaign, you must visit at least four of the eight gardens between 6 March and 30 October and collect stamps on the campaign cards. The cards are available at the information centres, ticket offices and entrances of the campaign gardens, as well as at the Tourist Information Centres in the cities. At the end of the campaign, you can enter a raffle to win a gift from the gardens. During the campaign, information about special events and stories about the diversity of plants in Latvia’s flowering collections will be posted on the websites and social media accounts of the Flower Roads participants. Follow the latest news and events on Facebook and Instagram @zieducelos and share your impressions using the hashtag #zieduceļos.
